Un email de la PWA que ha sido publicado en varios sitios, donde se ve que hay presiones a la PWA para que se obligue a los competidores de freestyle y olas a usar tablas de serie, y estan sondeando la opinión de los riders ... interesante ...
Dear Sailors
There is a strong desire within the industry currently, to bring in production board rules for Wave and Freestyle competition, meaning that all competitors would have to compete on production boards.
There are many differing opinions on the pro and cons of this idea. The main motivation behind the idea, from the industry point of view, is to reduce costs and to maximise the marketing potential of sponsored riders sailing at PWA events as they will be using identical equipment to that which you all compete on, on tour.
In Freestyle, there are very few sailors using custom equipment and it seems that there is not much resistance to the idea of introducing production boards in 2010. However, we would still like to hear the opinions of the Freestyle sailors.
In Waves there are some arguments against the idea. Some feel that at certain locations, top riders need boards more radical than those suited to recreational sailors, meaning that either sponsored sailors have to use boards that they are not happy with, or alternatively that manufacturers will need to produce boards that are not suited to the customer. In general though, most of the manufacturers are in favour of making this change.
Of course, with a decision that impacts heavily on you, the riders, it is important for us to find out your opinion. Please let us have your ideas or opinions by email as soon as possible so that we can get a feel for what you would like to see.
Kind regards
The PWA
