Greetings All,

I'm sorry that I can not communicate in Spanish but I am taking a trip to Portugal the last week of September and wanted some information about wave sailing ( I am advanced/expert). I will be traveling to Portugal the last week of September and have an open agenda at this time. What is your recommendation regarding a good place to rent gear and should I travel to the coast or stay at a couple choice spots(like Gunicho)? What should I expect with wave size and wind strength?

The little information I found stated it is typically 20-25 knots with 3-7 foot waves and that if it is sunny at the coast it should be ripping.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Hi Sav, welcome to this forum!! In Guincho the wind blows between March and September. Maybe September is a little late, but you can try it anyway. The wind blows from de north (best direction/completely side) or from the north-west (little worst direcction/side on). The wind blows stronger in the afternoon (between 17-21pm) so in the morning you can take de advantage of going surfing o sightseeing
The tide is also important. The best condidition is when the tide is low but you can also sail with a high tide. There are only a group of rocks in the middle of the beach
Here you have a web cam:

On the other hand, I not sure if you can rent a windsurf equipment there, but I sugest you to phone this shop. Maybe they can give you some information:

By the way, a winter suit is indispensable! (full neoprene 3/4mm)

Goog luck and enjoy your trip!! [saludo]

PD: Sorry about my bad english...
