SURF (GERMANY) #3 March 2004, p 30
REAL WORLD WAVE 76
"In the development process the Real World Wave may have been titled as "Evo-killer". After its good test result from last year, a fleet of short wide boards was shaped quickly. This comparison is fair, because these boards are -not at all- simple copies. Due to the shape experience of the master, Werner Gnigler’s Real World Wave shape partly also cannibalizes the Radical Wave. The little one is super maneuverable and catches even the smallest wave. On the rail, the 'shorty' totally convinces in waves up to 3 meters. When sailing out as well as on the wave face it collects bonus points with its good planing and basic speed compared to the Radical Wave. Astonishing that the board remains controllable, 'turny' and agile even in higher waves. Smoothly planing through chop it also features balanced maneuverability and great planing potential. Thus it finishes as clear test winner within the JP range.
Summary:
The JP Real World Wave is a perfect example of the trend towards short wide boards. A leap forward in development for typical European wave conditions and at the same time a good choice for radical side-offshore spots."
The SURF test results:

RANGE OF USE
STARS (max. 5) -> RANKING:
Wave use: 5 stars -> #1
Freestyle use: 5 stars -> #1
Total stars: maximum -> #1 "biggest range"
A short explanation and analysis:
In all seven criteria the Real World Wave has received no less than a minimum of 9 points - from a maximum of 10 possible points.
So, from seven criteria, the RWW is first in 2 and second in the other 5.
Summing up all points, the REAL WORLD WAVE has the highest score (65 pts). Same, when summing up all ’Rankings’.
Overall, the Real World Wave is the clear test winner without any weakness.
It is the only board to reach a total of 65 points – the maximum in this test.
Concerning the ’Range of Use’ (wave and freestyle) the RWW again received the maximum (in this case, the maximum of 10 "stars").
The only other two boards which are closest to the RWW (Starboard Evo and Tabou Da Curve) are not as good regarding ’Front Foot Riding in Big Waves’. The Da Curve's range of use is smaller: less stars in ‘Freestyle Use’.
Consequently, the JP Real World Wave works in small as well as in big waves and turns can be initiated with both, front and back foot in a wide range of use, thus totally confirming our marketing slogan:
"Made for the Real World - not just Hookipa"
Werner, congratulations, and thanks for this great board!
